Side Yard Gates Built for Security and Privacy
The side of the house is where trash bins and pool equipment live, and it is often the easiest way into the back yard. We build custom metal side gates that close off the side yard securely, in open picket designs, modern horizontal slats for privacy, or solid steel panels.
Every side gate is measured on site to fit the opening, built in our Sylmar shop and installed by our crew with a lock that works from both sides.

What is the best side gate for privacy?
Horizontal slat or solid steel panel gates block the view into the side yard. Slats still let some air and light through; solid panels block everything.
Can a side gate fit an uneven or sloped opening?
Yes. We measure on site and build the frame to fit the opening and the slope of the ground.
Will my trash bins fit through?
We size the gate for your bins and equipment. A double side gate opens wider when you need to move larger items.
Is a metal side gate better than a wood one?
Wood side gates tend to sag, warp and rot over time. A steel frame stays square and holds up to weather. If you like the look of wood, we can build a steel-framed side gate with wood panels so you get the warmth of wood without the sagging.
Can you add a privacy screen to my side gate?
Yes. We can build the gate with horizontal slats, solid steel panels or wood panels, or add privacy panels to a picket design so the side yard stays out of view.
What lock should a side gate have?
Most homeowners want a side gate latch that can be opened from the yard side and locked from the street side. We can fit a keyed lock, a padlock-ready latch or a keyless code lock.
